While messing around with ripped paper I tested some dappled light.
In my boat shed design I used 'Solar Ivy' to get this light-through-leaves effect.
The reason I chose it was because they look like leaves, project shadows like leaves and they even collect energy like leaves.
I feel like the function adds to the appeal of it since I really like the idea of Green Design, I feel any opportunity for natural energy collection should be seized.
Alternatively I could design my one solar leaves, or a solar panel pattern that resembled over growth. But I'll stick with the Ivy as a placeholder.
